Politicizing the Tragedy

They’re at it again

At CPAC, NRA chief LaPierre singles out Democrats for politicizing school shooting

They keep using that word “politicize.” I don’t think they know what it means.

People calling for their representatives to actually represent them and their desires for specific legislation like banning assault weapons, and to discuss any legislation at all that might help after tragedy is democracy in action. It is the way it is supposed to work.
Calling those who kill children Democrats without any basis in truth while saying Democrats are politicizing it, as Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) did, is politicizing a tragedy in the most disgusting way.

LaPierre claiming that citizens calling for action on the issue are “politicizing” it, is politicizing it.

Further, claiming that calling for action on gun control is part of some scary imaginary “political agenda” is politicizing it.

Trying to instill fear of “the government” taking your freedoms away, when people are clamoring for their government to take action, is politicizing it.

Saying absurd things like this about the citizens of this country who are asking the government to act on the behalf: “They hide behind labels like Democrat, left-wing, and progressive to make their socialist agenda more palatable, and that is terrifying” is politicizing it utterly.

It is switching the topic from ‘let’s do something now about gun violence’ to creating a straw man of a false and imagined threat to people’s liberty and way of life. It is a lie.

It’s bullshit. It’s fear mongering. It is evil.
